On May 26th, Ba Ria – Vung Tau University (BVU) organized the international seminar “Training Logistics Human Resources for the Development of Cai Mep – Thi Vai Port System at the International Level.”
The seminar was held both in-person and online, with the participation of over 600 delegates from domestic and international entities. The event was attended by representatives from the Vietnam Logistics Human Resources Development Association and universities offering logistics training programs. The invited guests included leaders from provincial departments and agencies in Ba Ria – Vung Tau, such as Mr. Pham Quang Nhat, Director of the Department of Science and Technology; Mr. Nguyen Van Dong, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade; Mr. Tran Thuong Chi, Director of the Department of Transportation; Ms. Nguyen Van Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor – Invalids and Social Affairs, as well as leaders from businesses and high schools.
Representing Ba Ria – Vung Tau University were Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thi Hoai Phuong, Rector of the university; Mr. Mai Xuan Thieu, Head of the Maritime Economics and Logistics Department and Chairman of the Vietnam Logistics Human Resources Development Association; along with a large number of faculty members and students from BVU.
The seminar welcomed keynote speakers who were highly knowledgeable scientists, managers, and experienced professionals in the field, including Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director of the Import-Export Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade; Prof. Hans-Dietrich Haasis from the University of Bremen, Germany, and Chairman of the Asian-German Knowledge Network of Transport and Logistics (AGKN); Assoc. Prof. Ho Thi Thu Hoa, Director of the Vietnam Institute of Research and Development in Logistics (VLI); Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nha, General Director of Tan Cang – STC and Head of the Membership Committee of the Vietnam Logistics Human Resources Development Association; and Mr. Dinh Thu Phuong, Deputy Head of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management Department at BVU.

The theme of the seminar was highly relevant in the current context, as logistics has experienced strong development and become an important economic sector in the process of international integration. Particularly, the Cai Mep – Thi Vai port system has been identified by the government as one of the two largest international ports in Vietnam. During the seminar, speakers and experts shared evaluations and insights on the potentials, opportunities, challenges, and proposed solutions for the development of the Cai Mep – Thi Vai port system at the international level, with a strong emphasis on training high-quality human resources for the logistics industry in Vietnam.
At the seminar, logistics and supply chain management students from BVU actively raised practical questions, and the speakers received valuable contributions from leaders of departments, agencies, and businesses regarding logistics human resources training and the development of the Cai Mep – Thi Vai port system at the international level.
The seminar was successfully conducted and proved to be highly beneficial for the training and scientific research work of the faculty members, as well as providing expanded employment opportunities for logistics and supply chain management students at BVU.

Prof. Dr. Hans-Dietrich Haasis, University of Bremen (Germany), Chairman of the Asian-German Knowledge Network of Transport and Logistics (AGKN), presented a report on “Developing human resources to meet the changes in the logistics and seaport industry.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hoa, Director of the Vietnam Logistics Research and Development Institute (VLI), reported on “Training and development of logistics human resources in Vietnam.”
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nha, CEO of Tan Cang – STC, Head of the Membership Committee of the Vietnam Logistics Human Resources Development Association, presented a report on “Development of logistics and the Cai Mep – Thi Vai port system at the regional and international level.”
Ms. Dinh Thu Phuong, Deputy Head of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management Department at BVU, presented a report on “Developing human resource skills in the logistics industry at Ba Ria – Vung Tau University.”
Dr. Mai Xuan Thieu, Head of the Maritime Economics and Logistics Department at BVU, and Chairman of the Vietnam Logistics Human Resources Development Association, delivered the concluding remarks of the conference.
