“Dreams for You” Scholarship Fund: A Magical Door to University

Recently, Dr. Pham Ngoc Hai, the Head of the Tourism – Health Department and the representative of the Executive Board of Ba Ria – Vung Tau University (BVU), awarded a full scholarship to Hà Thị Thu Ngân, a student of class 12A8 at Hoa Hoi High School in Xuyen Moc district. The scholarship covers her tuition for a duration of 3.5 years at the Tourism and Health Department, valued at 110,000,000 VND.

The “Dreams for You” Scholarship Fund is sponsored by enterprises and includes one full scholarship worth 110,000,000 VND and ten scholarships worth 10,000,000 VND each. These scholarships are awarded to students who come from challenging backgrounds, have a good academic performance, and aspire to study in the Tourism and Health Department at BVU. The scholarship distribution occurs in two phases: Phase 1, in which the full scholarship was given to Hà Thị Thu Ngân, and Phase 2, awarding ten scholarships worth 10,000,000 VND each to ten students with difficult circumstances but with excellent academic achievements, who have applied for the Tourism and Health Department at BVU.

Ngan’s circumstances are truly sympathetic: her parents are divorced, and she is the eldest child with two younger siblings who are still in school. The entire family’s livelihood relies on her father, who works as a rubber tapper in Dak Lak to support them. Consequently, she faces both financial hardships and emotional difficulties. Throughout her high school years at Hoa Hoi High School, Ngan has been a well-behaved, gentle student, albeit somewhat shy and introverted. Despite her self-doubt, she has shown great effort and determination in her studies. Her final grade in grade 12 was “Good” academically and “Excellent” in conduct. Her dream is to attend a university close to home and secure a stable job in the future to support her family. However, given her current situation, the possibility of entering a university seems like an impossible dream, too far out of reach for her.

Understanding her struggles and with the desire to bring a miracle into her life, on the morning of July 10, 2023, the leaders of the department and representatives of BVU’s Executive Board awarded her a full scholarship valued at 110,000,000 VND. The ceremony was solemn, warm, and touching. The university hopes that with this opportunity, Thu Ngân will have a promising and confident start to her academic journey and achieve the highest results at BVU.

Being honored to become a new student at BVU, Ngan cannot hide her joy and gratitude. She shares: The door to university once seemed so distant and had to be closed, but thanks to the support and encouragement from the “Dreams for You” scholarship fund, that door has been opened, leading me into a new journey of learning and experiences at BVU. I promise to give my best effort throughout my time studying at the university. At the same time, I am grateful for the love and care that the sponsors, the leader of the Tourism Department, Dr. Pham Ngoc Hai, and BVU’s Executive Board have shown me. Their trust and precious support are powerful motivations that help me overcome difficulties and pursue my dream of attending university.

The scholarships sponsored by the enterprises are not just about giving money; they also provide new hope and opportunities for students facing challenging circumstances. The “Dreams for You” scholarship is like a magical gift that helps these students overcome financial hardships and discover their own potential.
