Ba Ria – Vung Tau University (BVU) welcomed Mr. Graham Stuart MP – UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Vietnam and the delegation of the Consul General of the United Kingdom to visit and witness the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understandings between BVU, Pearson, and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Vietnam Association of Certified Public Accountants (VACPA).
(BVU, April 8th, 2022) – On April 8th, 2022, at The Hall 1- No. 80 Truong Cong Dinh, Ward 3, Vung Tau City, the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) between Ba Ria – Vung Tau University (BVU), Pearson, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and Vietnam Association of Certified Public Accountants (VACPA) took place with the objective of improving the training quality.
The signing ceremony was attended and witnessed by Mr. Graham Stuart MP – UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Vietnam, Cambodia & Laos; Mr. Oliver Todd – Consul General, Country Director for Trade in Vietnam & Deputy Regional Director for Trade in Southeast Asia, Ms. Ho Thi Kim Phuong – Trade Manager (Education) of the British Consulate; and the Representatives of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Department of Education & Training, and the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Department of Foreign Affairs.
From Pearson, there was the participation of Ms. Do Thi Minh Nguyet – Cluster Lead (Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar & Cambodia), Pearson ELL. Towards the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), there was the participation of Ms. Nguyen Thuy Minh Chau – Head of ACCA Vietnam; Ms. Pham Nguyen Thi Ngoc Chau – Senior Business Relations Manager, Learning, ACCA Vietnam. From the Vietnam Association of Certified Public Accountants (VACPA), there was a presence of Dr. Tran Khanh Lam – Vice President cum General Secretary. Representing BVU, there was the attendance of Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Lawyer. Nguyen Thi Hoai Phuong – Acting Rector, together with the leadership, lecturers, and students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages & Social Sciences as well as the Faculty of Business – Management – Law.
At the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Lawyer. Nguyen Thi Hoai Phuong – Acting Rector of BVU gave a welcoming speech: “Being the only multi-disciplinary university in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province, BVU always receives special attention from the local authority. As an application-oriented multidisciplinary university with 60 majors and specializations at the undergraduate level; 6 majors at the master and doctoral levels. After more than 16 years of establishment and development, BVU has been awarded the Third-Class Labor Medal by the Vietnamese Government; attained the certificate of institutional accreditation according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. In 2021, BVU was the youngest university in Vietnam to attain the certification of 4-star international quality of QS Star. The objectives of BVU are to maximize international cooperation, business cooperation, and facilitate the training of BVU students to become global citizens. Today’s signing ceremony marks an important milestone for BVU towards expanding cooperation with partners and universities of the UK, a country with high-class education, and extensive cooperation relationship with Vietnam in the development of higher education.”

In the cooperation with Pearson, BVU determines the goal of improving the quality of training by providing students and lecturers of Ba Ria – Vung Tau University with an English ecosystem that includes training programs, teaching & learning resources, testing solutions and leading internationally recognized certificates, technology applications and artificial intelligence. Specific areas of cooperation between BVU and Pearson involve: providing all BVU lecturers and students with abundant and effective resources of teaching and learning materials, integrating offline and online learning modes by applying the modern educational technology enhancing soft skills, professional skills for students; developing and implementing an English proficiency testing and assessment system using Pearson’s advanced artificial intelligence and high-tech application solutions (including Versant Professional English Test and PTE Academic), and recognizing the equivalency of these certificates to the English language proficiency input and outcome learning standards for each training period at BVU. Simultaneously, to establish and implement intensive training and enrichment programs for English lecturers, combined with strengthening lecturing skills.

In the cooperation with ACCA and VACPA, BVU establishes a tripartite cooperative relationship to develop the training in accounting, auditing, and finance: ACCA and VACPA will provide teaching materials and enrichment programs for lecturers and learning materials for students to study CertIFR. Upon graduation, BVU students will be awarded a bachelor’s degree together with the Certificate in International Reporting.

The signing ceremony between Ba Ria – Vung Tau University, Pearson, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and Vietnam Association of Certified Public Accountants (VACPA) has been successful, opening opportunities to support learners with resources, learning materials, educational technology, testing and international certificate system, which is the key to assist BVU students to upgrade their knowledge, helping them be more successful in the learning environment as well as in the future career.

BVU is an application-oriented multidisciplinary university, in 2019 BVU attained the national certificate of institutional accreditation, in 2021 BVU is the youngest university in Vietnam to be awarded the international quality standard, the 4-star of QS Stars. Currently, BVU is enrolling and training 60 majors, undergraduate specializations in the fields of Maritime Economy – Logistics, Tourism, Health, Management – Business – Law, Foreign Languages – Social Sciences, Engineering – Technology; 06 master and doctoral majors.
